Cristhian Andres Rodriguez Revilla is a passionate finance researcher and Ph.D. candidate with a track record of academic excellence and professional accomplishments. Born in Bucaramanga, Colombia, Cristhian has pursued his passion for economics, finance, and data science, earning degrees from prestigious institutions such as Universidad de Antioquia, Universidad del Rosario, and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid.
Cristhian graduated among the top students from the prestigious Universidad de Antioquia, where he earned his Bachelor's degree in Economics. His academic excellence in financial markets, investments, and asset management did not go unnoticed.
During his Master's in Quantitative Finance at the renowned Universidad del Rosario, Cristhian received a scholarship and was part of the Jovenes Investigadores research scholar program. His exceptional thesis on predictive models of interest rates not only earned him the Summa Cum Laude distinction but also the national award for the most outstanding dissertation in economics with an emphasis on finance, organized by AsoBancaria. Furthermore, he had the opportunity to publish a summary of his thesis in B&E magazine, a publication for practitioners.
Cristhian continued his academic pursuits in Madrid, Spain, earning a Master's in Business and Finance at Universidad Carlos III de Madrid. He maintained a top-tier GPA, leading to a Predoc Scholarship from the UC3M Department of Business and Finance.
In his second year as a Ph.D. candidate, Cristhian secured a grant from the Spanish Ministry of Science to continue his research at Universidad Jaume I (UJI) and support a project analyzing the decisions of individuals in strategic environments. This grant provided financial resources for three years and allowed him to visit J. Mack Robinson College of Business at Georgia State University for three months, where he attended classes, meetings, and seminars from the CEAR group.

Journalist: Cristhian, thank you for joining us today. Your journey in the world of academia and finance is inspiring. What motivated you to pursue a career in finance and data science?
Cristhian: Thank you for having me. I've always been passionate about math and had a natural curiosity for computers. When I pursued my Bachelor's in economics, I became interested in financial markets, investments, and asset management. My Master's in Quantitative Finance and subsequent studies in big data analytics further fueled my passion for data science and finance.
Journalist: You've faced some challenging circumstances, including living in a conflict-ridden area and dealing with the Covid-19 pandemic. How have these experiences shaped you as a person and professional?
Cristhian: These experiences have taught me the importance of perseverance, resilience, and faith. My family and I found solace and strength in Jesus Christ amidst turmoil, and I've carried that strength throughout my journey. During the pandemic, I learned to adapt and focus on my mental health and personal growth, which has made me a more well-rounded individual.
Journalist: You've achieved significant academic success, including awards and publications. What has been the key to your accomplishments?
Cristhian: I believe that talent and effort go hand in hand. I've dedicated myself to my studies and research, always striving to learn and grow. I also recognize the importance of humility and acknowledging my weaknesses, which has allowed me to continually improve.

Cristhian: My faith and values have instilled in me a strong sense of purpose and a desire to make a positive impact on others.
